#230-235-240-245 Ladder-Mesh for Composite Wall Spec
Sheet .pdf
Hohmann & Barnard's Lox All® Truss-Mesh and Lox All®
Ladder-Mesh are continuous lengths of joint reinforcement that are embedded into
the horizontal mortar joints of masonry walls. Joint reinforcement has long
proven to be necessary for superior performance of masonry wall construction, as
it offers the following benefits:
Reinforces a variety of masonry walls
Greatly reduces cracking that can arise from thermal stresses
Enhances resistance to water penetration, as cracks are controlled
Increases lateral flexural strength
Bonds exterior and interior masonry wythes together in composite or cavity
walls
Bonds masonry at intersecting walls and corners
Increases elasticity
Increases performance of masonry walls under various stresses
Fabricated in conformance with ASCE/ACI 530 building code requirements for
masonry structures, and ASTM A 951 (standard specification for masonry joint
reinforcement).
Available mill galvanized, hot dip galvanized or stainless steel.
Reinforcing for can be STANDARD WEIGHT (9 ga x 9 ga), EXTRA HEAVY (3/16"
Side Rods x 9 ga Cross Rods) or SUPER HEAVY DUTY (all 3/16").
Adjustable Joint Reinforcement with Eyes and Pintles.
Benefits:
Tru-Joint Feature: Projecting eyes are flush-welded at 3 points to the
backup ladder reinforcement to prevent excessive wire buildup. 3/8" joint
thickness is easily maintained by the mason. Allows full 5/8" mortar coverage
from face of block to the ladder side rod and provides deeper embedment of eye
anchors than butt-welded systems. (See ACI-530-02 Bldg. Code Sec.
6.2.2.5.3/4/5.)
Allows construction of interior wythe in advance of exterior wythe.
Rectangular pintle acts as a vertically adjustable anchor to bond exterior
masonry, while restraining in and out movement.
Design of pintle serves to mechanically secure insulation to masonry
backup.
Fabricated in conformance with ASCE/ACI 530 building code requirements for
masonry structures and ASTM A 951 (standard specification for masonry joint
reinforcing).
Available hot dip galvanized or stainless steel.
Reinforcing for interior wythe can be STANDARD WEIGHT (9 ga x 9 ga), EXTRA
HEAVY (3/16" Side Rods x 9 ga Cross Rods), or SUPER HEAVY DUTY (all 3/16").
Eyes and Pintles are 3/16" dia. standard.
The X-SEAL Anchor meets or exceeds requirements of the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Building Code for air leakage and water
penetration. For test results, click on "Download Additional Information" to the
right. The new X-SEAL™ Veneer Anchor is packed with more features than any other
anchor on the market. Owners, architects and masons can be confident in the
performance of an "X-SEALED" metal stud / veneer wall. The X-SEAL™ Anchor is the
next generation veneer anchor from H&B. The original DW-10-X® Anchor was
developed to address the problem of possible long-term deterioration of the
insulation or wallboard. The pronged legs bridge the sheathing and abut the
steel stud, affording independent, positive anchorage. Compression of the
sheathing by positive loads is also prevented. The X-SEAL Anchor improves upon
the DW-10-X by moving the horizontal pronged legs in from each end, enabling the
backplate portion of the anchor to effectively seal the wallboard /insulation.
This helps to maintain the integrity of the vapor barrier and prevents the
ingress of air and moisture through the sheathing. The pronged legs are now also
rib-stiffened and oriented closer to each other than on the original DW-10-X,
thus enhancing the compressive strength BY OVER 20%!
X-SEAL TAPE is adhesive-backed and is applied to the substrate
behind the X-SEAL ANCHOR for additional protection against air and moisture
infiltration. X-SEAL™ TAPE should be applied in continuous lengths. Surface must
be dry and free of oils, dirt, dust, loose rust scales or any other materials
which might cause poor adhesion. Continuous lengths are recommended to
facilitate maximum adhesion. For correct application of X-SEAL™ Tape, start from
the bottom of the wall, up. Roll on with an evenly distributed pressure applied
via 3" roller. Storage and protection: As recommended by manufacturer, store
X-SEAL™ Tape at a temperature between 60°F (15.5°C) and 80°F (26.6°C). If
exposed to lower temperatures, restore product to 60°F (15.5°C) minimum
temperature before application.
For anchoring brick veneer to metal stud, masonry, concrete or
wood backup. (We carry a wide variety of screws for various types of backups.)
Primarily for use when there is no insulation and little potential for wallboard
deterioration. For insulated walls, or when there is concern about eventual
wallboard deterioration, please see our X-SEAL Anchor.
HB-200 is an adjustable veneer anchor. The L-shaped plate section
has numerous ribs for added strength and 9/32" holes for connecting screws. The
eyelets allow pintle insertion (1 1/4" maximum allowable eccentricity) and are
sized to prevent in-and-out movement beyond allowable tolerances. Veneer can be
reinforced with optional Seismiclip(R) Interlock System (9 gauge or 3/16"
diameter continuous wire available).
Hot Dip Galv./Stainless Steel
14 ga. or 12 ga. thick
Pintle lengths: 3", 4" or 4 3/4"
Legs fabricated to accommodate up to 3 1/2" thick insulation (state
thickness when ordering).
Available with optional Seismiclip® and Continuous Wire.
Bonds
masonry walls and restrains lateral movements while allowing expansion and
control joints to perform as designed.
Metal end piece with two integrated 9 gauge rods and a 4" long loose PVC
"Slip-Tube." Slide tube onto rods in field. When installed into mortar joint,
rods will be free to slide in tube to allow control joints to perform, yet
unwanted lateral movement will be restrained.
Use style 'H' to connect level horizontal mortar joints.
Field bend to connect intersecting walls or new walls to existing walls.
Use in conjunction with #VWT Vee Wall
Tie or #301W Column Web Tie. The systems anchor masonry to the structural frame
allowing differential movement without any transfer of stresses.
Mill Galv./Hot Dip Galv./Stainless Steel
1/4" diameter x 8" long
Note: If an extended offset dimension is required for use with
fireproofing, please see Product #359FP.
PTA Series Partition Top Anchors have been developed to provide lateral
shear resistance at the upper limit of masonry walls. They permit vertical
deflection of the slab above, without transferring compressive loads to the
masonry wall below. PTA Series Anchors are suitable for construction using
steel or concrete.
PTA Tube with expansion filler is placed over rod anchor, which has been
attached to concrete or steel by any of the methods illustrated. The vertical
joint is then filled with mortar, fully surrounding tube.
FINISH: Anchors available Pre-Galvanized, Hot Dip Galvanized or Stainless
Steel (PTA-RN Pre-Galvanized only).
SIZES: Rounds are 3/8" diameter
Straps are 12 gauge
Other diameters and gauges available, including heavy-duty styles for

The Mortar Net is manufactured of high
density polyethylene (HDPE) or nylon strands woven into a 90% open mesh. It will
not react with common building products including PVC, polystyrenes, copper,
rubberized-asphalt, lead, stainless steel or galvanized metal. It will not
absorb or trap moisture, will not support mold or fungus, and is inedible to
insects. It will not degrade as a result of temperature variations and is
designed to last for the life of the building.
Catches and permanently suspends mortar droppings in masonry cavity walls
above the level of the flashing and weeps so blockage of weep hole vents can't
occur. Weep holes stay open.
Eliminates the need for any other system to deal with mortar droppings
such as cotton wicks, pea gravel or batter boards.
Eliminates inexact design language such as, "weep holes shall remain
open," so designer takes control and responsibility for the wall's
performance.
Available 0.4", 1" or 2" thick.
Unique patented dovetail shape breaks up mortar droppings and prevents
mortar damming so water always has open flow paths to the weep holes.
90% open plastic mesh construction allows unobstructed passage of air
& water through the material itself so walls breath, drain and dry
quicker.
Specifically designed to work in conjunction with standard flashing/weep
hole drainage systems in masonry cavity walls.
Simply stand in collar joint or cavity, requires no fasteners or
adhesives, no special skills or tools, so installation by masons is fast and
easy.
Lightweight for inexpensive and easy shipping, storage, handling and
installation - even on high scaffolding.
Slightly compressible to allow for cavity variations in the field.
Isolates flow of grout in designated areas
requiring reinforced concrete block. Allows for greater bonding of masonry
anchor in hollow block construction.
1/4" square monofilament screen is fabricated from high-strength,
non-corrosive polypropylene polymers.
Micro-thin material has high tensile and burst strength yet will not
interfere with mortar bond.
Standard widths 4", 6", 8", 10" and 12" x 100ft roll.
